Liz Chant Bursary

for singers aged 16-30

As a result  of a generous legacy left by long standing choir member, Liz Chant, the choir is making an annual award of £1000 to a young singer or singers who show outstanding potential. The award committee reserves the right to share the award between suitable applicants, or not to make the award at all at their sole discretion.

Who can apply?

Young singers aged 16-30 whose home address is in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire. You  should have passed Grade 6 or equivalent and be either currently studying singing or applying to specialise in vocal studies at a further or higher education institution.

What can the bursary be used for?

This is an unrestricted bursary which can be used for any expenses connected with your vocal studies.

How will applicants be assessed?

We are looking for someone who shows excellence in communication and performance.

You will be assessed by:

  • your written application,
  • your recording of application pieces
  • if you are short-listed, by an audition and a short interview. If you are shortlisted you may bring your own accompanist or choose to be accompanied by Philip Robinson.

The panel will comprise the Musical Director and Deputy Director of NBC, two choir members and Philip Robinson.

Timeline

The closing date for applications is  noon on Wednesday 28th February 2018.

Shortlisted candidates will be auditioned and interviewed on a Sunday afternoon in April 2018.

The winner will be announced by 30th April 2018.
