Nottingham Bach Choir

JOINING THE CHOIR

The Nottingham Bach Choir rehearses during term time on Tuesday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm, either at St. Mary's Church, High Pavement, Nottingham or at St John's Church, Carrington. We enjoy a fifteen minute break for refreshment and a chat. New choir members are always welcome. (We are particularly keen to recruit tenors and basses at the moment!)

Rehearsals for the next concert start on Tuesday September 7th, 2010, at St John's Church, Carrington, Nottingham.

We don't expect all singers to be soloists - we are building a chorus of voices that work well together, so the (necessary) audition is an informal affair, usually taking place during the refreshment break in a rehearsal when the conductor will listen to a group of newcomers (in private) to check that their voices can blend with others and are not being over-stretched by a disadvantageous choice of part to sing. Adequate sight-reading (to be able to keep up with the rest of the choir) is more important that perfection. An 'audition piece' is not required - some part of the work being studied and which has already been worked on that evening is usually used for audition.

Members may be required to purchase their own concert folder and, from time to time, their own scores.

Music for each concert can be bought or hired. If borrowing music it is imperative that you return it as soon as possible after the concert as the choir has to pay for any unreturned library music.
